SERVICE IS SOVEREIGNTY
We invite Alums and Supporters of Alabama A&M University to join us by serving on any of the committees below to perpetuate the legacy of our great founder, William Hooper Councill, and support our beloved Alma Mater.
The College Fairs and Student Recruitment Committee promote AAMU and ensure the University is represented at area college fairs. This committee works closely with the AAMU Admissions and Enrollment Office, developing an annual college fair calendar ensuring events is staffed sufficiently.
The Communication and Public Relations Committee is responsible for advertising and marketing chapter events such as the Annual Scholarship and Recognition Breakfast and the Alabama Big 3 HBCUs events. Produce the chapterís newsletter and directory. Disseminates information from the National Alumni Association and updates the chapterís website, ensuring the content is relevant and accurate. Disseminates notices for monthly chapter newsletter.
The Event Committee plans social events for chapter members and organizes refreshments as needed and assists with planning and implementing special events such as the National Alumni Association conference. The committee assists with securing speakers, program participants, entertainment and guests for events.
The Fundraising Committee develop ideas to increase revenues for the chapter and work closely with the Program Committee to implement approved initiatives; and assist the Treasurer as needed with the financial aspects of various events.
The Membership Committee advocates increasing membership throughout the year, plan annual campaigns and providing quarterly updates regarding membership initiatives and efforts. Provide members services such as phone calls, courtesy note cards and remembrances for occasions of congratulations, illness or familial loss.
The Nominating Committee is responsible for developing a slate to elect chapter officers. The committee also ensures chapterís members are nominated for National Alumni Association offices and awards and work closely with the chapter President to prepare nomination and award packages.
The Public and Community Service Committee is responsible for developing annual service projects which aligns with AAMUís motto, Service is Sovereign.
The Scholarship Committee advertise the annual scholarships available to students in the District of Columbia, Maryland, Virginia and Delaware; and collect, review and evaluate the applications submitted, ensuring all scholarship applicants are treated equitable; and award scholarships to the best candidates.
